About
Meet Ruth

My mission is to help children and parents discover the joy of learning maths together, at a pace that feels right.
Hi, I’m Ruth, and I’ve been teaching maths for over 15 years.
In 2021, I stepped away from the traditional classroom to teach maths in a way I know truly works. Why? Because I believe the way maths is often taught can cause anxiety and put children off the subject. I know there’s a better way to help children not only understand maths but truly enjoy it. My passion is in creating a learning environment that focuses on understanding, curiosity, and confidence, rather than rigid, formal methods.
My Philosophy
As a home-educating mum, I’ve learned firsthand the power of trusting a child’s ability to learn at their own pace. I believe in autonomy and self-direction, allowing children to learn in the way that works best for them. When children feel empowered in their learning, they build a stronger, more lasting understanding of the subject. This is the approach I bring to every lesson I teach, whether it’s with children or parents.
What I Offer
I offer a variety of resources to support both home-educating families and parents who want to help their children with maths at home. My approach is based on my own home-ed values, including fostering a love of learning and creating a relaxed, stress-free environment. I run free weekly online lessons, small group problem-solving sessions, and self-paced courses for parents — all designed to meet the unique needs of each child and family.
