“My favourite bit about working with Ruth is her genuine enthusiasm and how engaging she is. She made the sessions really chilled and that really meant that we enjoyed sitting together and having a go with out think "it's maths!" ” - Alexis

What if all the maths you have learnt, genuinely made sense?

Like in a deep way - that didn't require a leap of faith and a moment of just accept it until you can do it.

It seems impossible if you had to learn rules and methods.

This is a masterclass in deep understanding, for parents that want a different mathematical path for their child.

Have you ever heard this?

“You are too old to do it that way - you need to write it out like me.”

“ You must show your working exactly in the way I have shown you. ”

“ Fingers and manipulatives are for babies - you should be able to do it in your head. ”

As an ex-head of maths turned home educating mum and coach, I have heard these stories on repeat:

“ I didn't understand the way the teacher taught me, but my way wasn't the right way. ”

“ Even though I knew the answer, I was told I was wrong because I couldn't explain how. ”

“ I enjoyed maths until THEN. After that, maths became boring because it got serious.”

“ I love how Ruth takes maths off the school desk and weaves it into our lives, which is where I feel it belongs. She teaches in such a way that my old school wounds of 'fear of getting it wrong' and 'needing to be quick to be good' melted away and curiosity returned. Along with a playfulness and desire to explore maths in a physical way. It was such a lightbulb moment in Blaze, when I heard her say that writing down maths is a great way to communicate, but 'it isn't maths'. ” - Tara

You adore your child and want to feel confident they can access maths as and when they need to as they grow.

But for you, this means deeply understanding maths - not memorising facts.

You are not willing to sacrifice their joy and deep understanding - in fact you know that this will only enhance their ability to pass tests..

You are not willing to coerce your child into learning arbitrary facts - you are all about supporting them through methods that suit them perfectly.

Blaze is designed to blaze a new mathematical trail - one where maths is no longer abstract, but makes sense because you have visual and physical ways to understand it.

The methods I teach in Blaze are perfect for 5 year olds to 11 year olds - heck I still use these skills for maths myself (and I have a degree in it).

Feel a sense of lightness and confidence about approaching maths using physical and pictorial strategies.

Feel confident that you have the skills and the knowledge you need to approach maths in a way that suits your family.

Have skills for developing deep understanding and connection in maths using physical and pictorial strategies.

Have practical tips and activities for developing number sense and creating physical and visual representations, to go away with, that you can implement immediately.

What you really need is the opportunity to see maths done differently.

You need to understand what the research says about learning maths effectively for the long term.

You need to hear from a person who has lived and breathed the school system for over 30 years and been traditionally successful in maths, telling you that traditional methods do not align with positive outcomes for most people.

You need to know that your child can thrive and be successful, in every meaning of the word, without being coerced into memorising meaningless facts without deep understanding first.

You need me – I am sooo excited to guide you through this.

Hi there, I am Ruth - lover of maths, celebrator of children, living for joy and connection.

I was traditionally successful at school. I did all the “right things” like getting good grades, all the extra-curricular stuff, good degree at a good university, straight into work, up the ladder until...

BOOM – I had children.

They did not fit this perfect mould, and by heck – they were loud about it! Now I thank them every single day for showing me that I do not either.

And the chances are -  you don’t either.

Because if 11 years of teaching in a classroom showed me one thing, it showed me how few people really do fit this mould.

Afters years of painfully and unsuccessfully fighting to change the system from the inside, I took my research and passion for learning and left "traditional" education.

And now I am here, with all my knowledge and passion as well as 4 years of de-schooling and coaching families under my belt, ready to lead a maths revolution.
