But the curriculum is dull and quite frankly, putting your child off maths.

The message you keep getting is telling that they will get behind. But what else can you do?

I am here to show you another path. With evidence backed methods and over 15 years in mathematics education, I am going to ignite the spark of joy in your home maths learning.

Imagine this: Your child enjoys learning maths and you feel deeply calm and confident about their mathematical education.

This is because you know:

- Your child is learning key mathematical skills in ways that suit them perfectly.

- You feel confident offering maths in a way that suits your family.

- You have no need to compare to others because you are following exactly what works for your child.

- You have a range of strategies up your sleeve that are perfect for PARENTS. None of this teacher speak.

- You have found a new love for maths yourself and so it is easy to join in.

I taught maths in secondary schools for over 11 years, specialising in working with those kids that were at risk of not getting that all important C/4 grade.

From the age of five they had done all the “right things”. These 16 year olds had followed the curriculum, completed the worksheets, tried their hardest to memorise all the rules and methods. But it wasn’t working for them.

My trick was to help them unlearn their thinking about maths. To work on using knowledge they already had and show them that they could work it out from there. We would work on their mindset, not more practice and drill. And focus on deep understanding.

It got amazing results and my one wish has always been that they had never been exposed to the lies that beat them down in the first place.

How to Learn Maths at Home is NOT a to do list.

You will feel confident in using my methods because you will have tried everything out as we go.

You will be experimenting along side other parents. The community will provide you with safety and a sense of doing this together.

Each week you will have access to a set of short, self paced videos to show you both the theory and how to use this in your home.

You will follow this up by choosing a maths task or challenge to try out.

We will discuss this in our live calls and the community space.

This course last 6 weeks and over that time you will get:

A set of short weekly videos taking you through the key topic for that week. This will include research, the main themes and the what’s and whys for your family as well as a mini task or challenge to choose and try.

Ways to trick or coerce your child into learning maths.

A guide to what your child should be doing by a certain age or stage.

Ways to disguise learning boring facts in a game.

A step by step guide to getting your child to learn specific maths from a curriculum.

Understand mathematical development and how you can use this in your home for your unique child.

Know how to develop your child's mathematical skills in a range of ways, with or without a curriculum.

Feel a deep confidence about diving into complex problems, even when you don't know the answer.

What you really need is the opportunity to see maths done differently.

You need to understand what the research says about learning maths effectively for the long term.

You need to hear from a person who has lived and breathed the school system for over 30 years and been traditionally successful in maths, telling you that traditional methods do not align with positive outcomes for most people.

You need to know that your child can thrive and be successful, in every meaning of the word, without being coerced into memorising meaningless facts or practice.

You need me.

Hi there, I am Ruth - lover of maths, celebrator of children, living for joy and connection.

I was traditionally successful at school. I did all the “right things” like getting good grades, all the extra-curricular stuff, good degree at a good university, straight into work, up the ladder until...

BOOM – I had children.

They did not fit this perfect mould, and by heck – they were loud about it! Now I thank them every single day for showing me that I do not either.

And the chances are -neither do you and your child.

Because if 11 years of teaching in a classroom showed me one thing, it showed me how few people really do fit this mould.

Afters years of painfully and unsuccessfully fighting to change the system from the inside, I took my research and passion for learning and left "traditional" education.

And now I am here, with all my knowledge and passion as well as 4 years of de-schooling and coaching families under my belt, ready to lead a maths revolution.

"Ruth's workshop was so helpful and informative, it really demystified multiplication for me. It left me feeling confident in how to help my children explore multiplication and how to make it fun and connection based. It reassured me to have confidence in my own ability to do maths and make maths something that is enjoy in our family. I especially enjoyed the different exercises looking for patterns and solving problems for the way that it made the topic so practical and gave me strategies to implement. Ruth is so fun and engaging as a teacher and her enthusiasm for maths is catching.” - Claire

FAQ's

How long will I have access to the course?

It is life time access once you purchase.

I would highly recommend the live calls for maximum impact, but they are also recorded and added to the course area.

For questions you will be able to use the community area.

Both – but mostly we will be looking at how to use resources through mini weekly tasks/challenges that you choose.

“Ruth's masterclass has really given me more confidence with math. Seeing how many different ways there were to solve an equation and realising that multiplication is simply adding up quickly really stripped back the fear I have instilled in me (probably from school) of ‘getting it wrong’ or even ‘doing it wrong’. I’m a very visual person so representing it visually, as Ruth did, made me realise it’s less about the two numbers I’m multiplying or the order of my times tables but simply adding.” - Carys
