My Son has discovered a problem solving approach with numbers that is perfect for him. We have found the links and conversation starters particularly helpful. Our perspective has shifted thanks to Ruth's insight and all around lovely , relaxed vibe.” - Andy

Have you ever heard these?

“ Maths is boring and hard. ”

“ You have to get your maths qualification, so head down and just revise. ”

“ BYou won't ever need this again so just remeber it for the exam. ”

Because as an ex-head of maths turned home educating mum and coach, I have heard these stories on repeat:

“ I found maths boring and hard. ”

“ Maths is about right or wrong - you just have to remember the facts. ”

“ Maths was fun and made sense, until my teacher told me I was doing it wrong. ”

“ I wanted to infuse maths in a better ways in our home education. My favourite part of Programmed to Problem Solve was the problems Ruth introduced us to. Now we will all do a problem at home or in a coffee shop, and it doesn’t feel like we are doing math, it’s just so much fun! And as Ruth says, we don’t need more human super calculators, we need creative problem solvers. ” - Emilie

You want you child to both enjoy maths and have the best opportunity to pass exams.

But you are not willing to sacrifice their joy and deep understanding, and your connection with them, over learning maths.

You know what you have seen in school kills joy and puts children off maths.

You are not willing to put them through the boredom of learning facts and methods that feel pointless or tests that are sole destroying.

You have a child that is 7-14 that you want to explore maths with in a deep and meaningful way.

Programmed to Problem Solve is not about passing tests – it is about questioning the systems you have taken for granted, making sure your child has deep understanding and the ability to learn maths that can support them for a lifetime.

Feel a sense of excitement and confidence about exploring maths through problem solving.

Feel confident that you have the skills and the knowledge you need to approach maths through problem solving that will build your child's confidence.

Have practical tips and activities for starting and introducing problems and what to do when your child feels stuck.

What you really need is the opportunity to see maths done differently.

You need to understand what the research says about learning maths through problem solving benefits everyone.

You need to hear from a person who has lived and breathed the school system for over 30 years and been traditionally successful in maths, telling you that traditional methods do not align with positive outcomes for most people.

You need to know that your child can thrive and be successful, in every meaning of the word, without being coerced into memorising meaningless facts.

You need me – I am sooo excited to guide you through this.

Hi there, I am Ruth - lover of maths, celebrator of children, living for joy and connection.

I was traditionally successful at school. I did all the “right things” like getting good grades, all the extra-curricular stuff, good degree at a good university, straight into work, up the ladder until...

BOOM – I had children.

They did not fit this perfect mould, and by heck – they were loud about it! Now I thank them every single day for showing me that I do not either.

And the chances are -  you don’t either.

Because if 11 years of teaching in a classroom showed me one thing, it showed me how few people really do fit this mould.

Afters years of painfully and unsuccessfully fighting to change the system from the inside, I took my research and passion for learning and left "traditional" education.

And now I am here, with all my knowledge and passion as well as 4 years of de-schooling and coaching families under my belt, ready to lead a maths revolution.
