Puzzles and Problems

Small group problem solving sessions for home educating families

“ My 12 year old daughter loves Ruth’s sessions. She has never been to school and says that Ruth has made her see maths as a fun puzzle to solve. Thank you for providing something so unique!”

Joyful Maths with Ruth all started with one dream.

To show that children are intrinsically interested in and motivated to learn maths.

I wanted to create a space where children felt free to explore maths and numbers, without judgement.

I knew 3 things

  • Children had to be able to turn up to these lessons exactly as them.
  • Questions are more important than answers.
  • There should be no power over, only power through team work.

Puzzles and Problems are small group problem solving sessions for 10+.

The live sessions run twice a week, Monday 3pm and Friday 10am UK time during UK term times.

I encourage families to engage in the way that works best for them.

You are welcome to join in camera on or off. Shouting out, using the chat or just watching.

These sessions are recorded if that woks better for you too.

Extra links and resources are provided each week for deeper exploration as well.

“ My son was surprised at how chilled he felt about maths in these sessions. We enjoyed sitting together and just having a go. We love Ruth's genuine enthusiasm and engagement. Myself and my son would recommend these sessions“
